The following first aid training courses will be held at the Community Centre in the next few months:
- 19th September – Basic First Aid (Morning) and Emergency First Aid at Work (Afternoon)
- 3rd October – 1-3pm First Aid Review
- 21st November – Basic First Aid (Morning) and Emergency First Aid at Work (Afternoon)
The Basic First Aid training is for those who would like to gain confidence to use
the defibrillator that is located in the Cottenham Community Centre. Although no
formal skills are required, this training will show participants how to use the defibrillator.
This becomes more effective if the user can also perform CPR. The Basic First Aid course
goes over the basic safe First Aid protocol (DR ABC), CPR and use of the defibrillator.
The approach for this session is to encourage a team approach to any situation. The course is on
both days from 10:00-1:00pm. Price £25
Participants who would like to know more than just these basics, can stay for
the whole day (2:00-5:00pm) and complete the official Emergency First Aid at Work course
(EFAW). Price £70
The First Aid Review is for those who have done the basic First Aid training with use of
the defibrillator and feel they would like to refresh their skills. We will play out a few
scenarios, where participants work as a team to “save the day”. Price £20
