Newsletter Late August 2012

Cottenham Community Centre newsletter August 2012

1  The Coffee shop will be closed all week from Monday 27 August. Normal opening recommences Monday 3 September

2  Taking advantage of this closure, Acoustic material will be installed in the coffee shop on Tuesday 28 August and thermostatic valves will be fitted to the radiators upstairs and in back kitchen and storeroom on Thursday 30  August. We expect there will be less “echo” in the coffee shop.

3   We have not increased prices since opening in Feb 2011 but the success of the coffee shop means that we have reached the limit for VAT purposes and have had  to register (No 139 4876 68) for VAT. Thus 20% of the cost of items in the Coffee shop will represent VAT. We have therefore to increase prices (by 15%) with effect from 3 September. The prices still compare very favourably with coffee shops elsewhere and the new acoustic panels will improve the ambience. The hall bookings will not carry VAT.

4  The ante-natal class continues on Tuesdays evenings at 7pm and now includes post-natal – for more information contact Debbie Prince debslp2@googlemail.com.

Starting on Wednesday 19September and Friday 28 September please come and join us at Cottenham Community Centre coffee shop for…..

7  There will be an Alzheimers Society information meeting on Friday 7 September from 10am – 12 noon.

The Alzheimers Society works with anyone who is confused and forgetful, not just people with Alzheimers Disease. They will be here to provide information, help people to understand confusion, help people to find strategies to cope and to provide someone to talk to who understands.  There are opportunities to meet other people in similar situations.

Staff will be on hand to help you. They can help with financial issues, carers’ assessments, as well as providing you with information and support.  Carers and people with dementia can also meet up at this event and chat over coffee.

If we can help in any way or you would like to find out more about the event please call our office on 01223 863854 or e-mail: cambridge&elyoffice@alzheimers.org.uk
