Newsletter January 2014

A Happy New Year to all our friends

We thank Kristen Ellery and also the Primary school for their singing during the last week before Christmas

The coffee shop reopened after the Christmas break at 10am on Thursday 2 January 2014.  The room is still looking lovely. There is Artwork, cards, jams etc to buy and beautiful Pictures and Quilts adorning the walls. Come and enjoy browsing our second hand books, CDs and videos.

The Coffee shop opening times are 10.00 – 4.30 on Monday and 10.00 – 2.00 Tuesday to Saturday. A great place to relax or meet whilst enjoying a tea/coffee or lunch. We now provide 2 free newspapers as well as free Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, we have had to raise our prices for the New Year. We have kept the increase to the lowest level possible as we know that with cost of living increases outstripping earnings, some people are struggling.

The hard fundraising work of Sue Bainbridge in making jams and other items, and Peter Giddens in making the bird boxes, sold in 2013 has raised the amazing sum of £1257. A huge thank you to them.

We will be holding our AGM on Thursday 6 Feb at 7.30pm. This will be the third anniversary of the opening of the coffee shop. Please do join us that evening to celebrate, Learn more about this great community facility, consider becoming a Trustee and/or vote for other trustee candidates.

On Sat 8 Feb there will be acoustic music during opening hours in the coffee shop from the Arts night musicians. Do join us.
On Sat 22 Feb the Band of Hope will be performing in the hall, starting at 8:30 pm. The Band of Hope is a 7-piece band playing popular music of the 1920s and early 1930s – think Temperance Seven, Charleston, Flapper Girls etc. This is your chance to experience the Roaring Twenties! Tickets £7.50 from Dave Bainbridge 88 Rampton Road 01954 251202.
On Thursday 6 March there will be a special book sale for World Book Day.
