The well attended AGM was on Thursday 21 Feb in the coffee shop and we are pleased to welcome 2 new trustees.

The Coffee shop normal opening time is 10.00 – 4.30 on Monday and 10.00 -2.00 Tuesday to Saturday

At Easter the coffee shop will close at 2pm on Thursday 28 March and re-open on Wednesday 3 April at 10am.Thus it will be closed Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Monday and Tuesday

World Book Day Thursday 7 March 10-2 in Coffee shop

We will have: – a book swap, a book sale, books for adults, books for children. Bring your unwanted books!

Naalarami school – Talk and Auction Friday 8 March from 6.30pm in Coffee shop

On Friday 8 March we have a delicious filled baked potato and coffee/tea from 6.30pm followed by a presentation from the people who have just returned from the school, which will in turn be followed by an auction of African art (some are now hanging on the walls of the coffee shop) from Tanzania. Do come and enjoy a super evening whilst supporting this school which is in desperate need of essential facilities/resources. Entry is just £5 to include the food. This is a joint event, run by Cottenham Community Centre and Friends of the Rotary club of South Cambridge.

Fredi’s Easter Bake-off Saturday 23 March 13.00 to 3.00 in Main hall.

Judges include Chequers Chef, Prizes and Raffle, Best Junior creation, Best Adult creation

and http://www.justgiving.com/fredibledoesVSO. This will be a fun fund-raiser by one of our volunteers, Fredi. This April she will be doing voluntary service in the occupied Palestinian territories, working in the Women’s Centre in Ramallah. Women in the West Bank often have limited access to education and opportunities, are victims of human rights abuses and worry about an uncertain future for their children. Come and help her reach her target of raising £1,500. Any donation will help the charity in its important work, which forms a part of the Millennium Development Goals for eradicating poverty.

Toy Library Easter Fun Wed 27 March 10-12
Cottenham Toy Library invites you to join us at the Cottenham Community Centre Main Hall for some fun filled Easter activities. They will be holding their pre-school fun session on Wednesday 27th March from 10am-12pm. Entry costs £4 per family and includes use of bouncy castle, ride on toys, craft activities and face painting. We hope to see you there.

A Post Easter market Saturday 20 April 10-2 in Main Hall. Come and stock up for crafts and gifts.

Regulars at CCC – do come and join one of our exciting classes/meetings.

We have Rugby tots on Saturdays at 10.30 (aged 2-3.5) and 11.00 to 12.00 (aged 3.5-5.00) in the Main hall (NB on Sat 9 March it is at 12.00 – 1.30). On the second Saturday of each month including Sat 9 March it will be at 12 – 1.30 (i.e. after Dad’s play). For more information or to book contact andyk@rugbytots.co.uk

On Wednesday mornings at 10.30 Julia Featherstone is leading  for CCC, in the main hall, a Singing and Music Fun Time for babies and toddlers which has already become very popular. Do come and join in and enjoy a tea/coffee. More information from julia.featherstone09@gmail.com

Knitting Group. On Wednesday Mornings 10-12 a few people meet in the coffee shop over a coffee and cake to knit. Just come and join in if you are interested.

On Wed afternoons provisionally starting 17 April we hope to have an Action For Elders keep-fit etc session for older people from 2-4pm. It is intended to address issues such as Mobility, Falls Prevention and Loneliness. For more info contact Action4EldersUK@aol.com.

Thursday.  Early Years 10.00-11.00: Pilates 6.30-7.30pm for men: Pilates 7.30 to 8.30pm for mixed ability

Friday.  Pilates 10.00-11.00 for mixed ability: Yoga 10.00-11.30 upstairs room

We are very keen to hire out the rooms and increase the number of volunteers so if you would like to hire one of our 3 rooms (main hall, small hall (upstairs) or coffee shop, you are now able to check bookings by looking on the website at Function Rooms and then the room and looking for the date.  Similarly if you would like to volunteer in the coffee shop, and improve your skills, do get in touch by replying to smithmichaelstanley@hotmail.com

Electric heating/Air conditioning and Acoustic material has been installed in the main hall at the back of the coffee shop. We are now planning further improvements to involve new electrically operated doors. There are now rails by the back door and a blind on the large window in the coffee shop and hand driers in all toilets.

It costs you nothing more but brings in extra income for CCC.

We have been advised that the Entertainment licence has been granted which allows live music, films etc. as well as the sale of alcohol at certain events. This will save the need for Temporary Event notices.
