1 Greener Cottenham – a morning of talks, activities and information

Saturday 26 May 2012 10.00 – 14.00 

Sustainable Cottenham’s second village event, this time on recycling, sustainable food and water conservation will be taking place on 26th May. There will be interactive talks, activities (seed and recipe swaps) and information stands.  It’s in the room behind the Coffee Shop so do drop in either before or after your elevenses.

11.00 – an interactive talk on recycling

12.00 – find out how to use the food we buy more sustainably

13.00 – ideas for how to conserve water at home

Also, there will be a recipe swap (bring along your suggestions for tasty recipes for store cupboard ingredients or for using up food that is past its best but you don’t want to throw it out) and FREE samples of home-saved seeds for your gardens.

2 The coffee shop will be closed on Friday 1 June, Saturday 2 June and Monday 4 June and Tuesday 5 June as this is a Bank holiday weekend. The Coffee Shop will however be open from 12.30pm on Sunday 3rd June to help celebrate the Diamond Jubilee Village Street Party. We will be offering the following reduced menu on the day;

Cream Tea (scone, butter, jam and clotted cream) with either a tea or a filter coffee £3.00; Selection of homemade cakes from £1.30; Sausage Rolls £1.00; Cheese Scones £1.20; The following sandwiches all at £2.00 and baguettes all at £2.30: Coronation Chicken, Cheese, Ham, Cheese & Pickle, Tuna Mayo and Cucumber, Egg & Tomato

We would be happy to accept orders before the day to guarantee your favourite scone or sandwich, otherwise please do come in the day. All food will be packaged for take-away.

On 3 June the High Street from Telegraph street to Lyles road will be closed to non-essential vehicles from 12 noon until 8pm.

 

3 The coffee shop is now open from 10am until 4.30pm each Monday. {Other days remain the same at10-2}. Please encourage teenagers to call in, as they may be able to come on Monday afternoons.

 

4 An anti-natal class will begin on Tuesday 29 May at 7pm in the upstairs room – for more information contact Debbie Prince debslp2@googlemail.com.

 

5 The Crocus competition paintings have now been taken down and there is new artwork displayed. There is also some woodturning by Ralph Carpenter.

 

6 Quilt –making for CCC. If you would like to help with this exciting project do come to the next meeting at the coffee shop on Monday 28 May at 2pm
