COVID-19 Entrance/Welcome Poster UPDATED 19th July 2021

Coffee Shop COVID-19 Risk Assessment

To ensure compliance, there are several practical changes we’ve needed to implement:

  • There will be a one-way system with entrance to the Coffee Shop only via the side door (up the ramp).
  • We have fewer tables available, meaning that it will sometimes be necessary to queue outside the building. Our staff/volunteers will help to manage this queue.
  • We have removed the children’s play area, including all toys and books.
  • Children are still welcome, but we must ask that they remain seated with parents/carers at all times.
  • We have removed all secondhand books and other items that might normally be available to browse and purchase.
  • We will no longer provide daily newspapers.

Beyond this though, we aim to provide our normal friendly service and welcome – with a slightly reduced menu. We hope to see you soon – for table service or takeaway.

The Coffee Shop at the Cottenham Community Centre…

Was intended from the start to be a welcoming place where anybody can come to spend time, socialise and enjoy simple high quality drinks, snacks and light meals. The shop is based in the converted Methodist Chapel with an impressive roof structure which has been tastefully restored to create a wonderful space.

The facilities include a fully equipped modern kitchen including a first class coffee machine offering the full range of coffees, a childrens’ play area with toys and books and a comfortable carpet for small people, a range of local artwork on display for enjoyment and purchase, an information centre and a variety of seating including comfortable sofas for complete relaxation. Free wifi access is provided – details are available at the counter. The coffee shop is mainly staffed by volunteers with one paid member of staff present at all times. The food is entirely prepared on site and the amazing talents of our volunteers ensure that the food and cakes are to the highest possible standard.

The experience when visiting our coffee shop is very definitely costa rather than church hall!
